Reconnecting Communities

Urban Freeways were one of the most racist, damaging trends of the 1900’s. They destroyed cities and Black communities in particular. Now, cities are starting to fight back and repurpose some urban freeways. Some cities have already succeeded, some movements are far along, and some are just getting started. Here’s a look at some big ideas for Southern Cities to reclaim their urban environments. Cities like Atlanta, Durham, Charlotte, and Nashville need to strike while the iron is hot and make the most of the Reconnecting Communities federal funding!
